So, just how lightweight are they?
Simply put, we’re talking around 20kg for the KTM versus the standard Bosch eBike that weighs 27kg give or take.
For many, history shows us that the weight of the bike really is neither here nor there. However, on occasions weight can be critical. Currently, many lightweight eBikes also have weaker, non-Bosch motors. I think it’s fair to say that we’ve all been waiting for a lighter motor from Bosch that retains a decent level of power output.
Thankfully, those days are here, and appear on a wonderful range of KTM eBikes.
Bosch SX Motor
When muscle power and electric support work in conjunction, you get top performance exactly when you need it. Also, Bosch’s Performance Line SX is a sporty drive unit that is lighter and more compact than all their other drives.

Pedal faster, pick up speed even faster: The Performance Line SX works at least as hard as you do. It has a reduced pedal resistance of more than 50 percent compared to the Performance Line CX, a narrower design of the cranks and an almost silent motor.
At around just 2kg, the Performance Line SX is Bosch’s lightest drive with the highest power density. Likewise, it reduces the total weight of your eBike, delivers greater agility and is ideal for fans of a sporty riding style. In addition, the compact drive unit disappears elegantly into the crank area so it looks like a conventional bike.
Removable Batteries on the KTM eBike
A key difference with the KTM range that utilise the SX motor is that the battery is removeable.
This can be crucial for many eBike owners.
The Bosch battery is locked in for security but removal is simple, easy and quick! Take your battery indoors to charge and store. Give it some TLC and it will serve you well.
