KTM Macina Freeze 261
The KTM Macina Freeze 261 is KTM’s Fatbike for the 2018 season.
Fat bikes are perfect for rolling through the sand, riding through the woods on a snowy afternoon, or for turning heads while cruising. The perfect weight distribution of the Bosch drive provides no-sink traction and control in deep sand or snow. No matter what time of year or what type of weather, the KTM Macina Freeze 261 is the perfect bike for all conditions. With the Bosch Performance CX motor, extensive range 500Wh battery and KTM’s bike building pedigree, this is a killer app for off-road use.
Fatbikes are certainly passing through a period of immense popularity. KTM found a way to make these bikes even more attractive by utilising the very latest technology, design and common sense.
The KTM Macina Freeze 261 runs on monster 4-inch wide tyres and 26″ rims with super sturdy through axles. In order to avoid unnecessary weight, KTM fitted the bike with a 6061 alloy frame featuring a chainstay mount for the rear brake, and a tapered head tube; two very worthy performance-enhancing features. With a relatively light weight of only 22.8kg, the Freeze is a nimble, agile performer built to cut through the most challenging terrain.
The Macina Freeze comes equipped with a RockShox Bluto 80mm suspension fork that flattens all the bumps and hollows. Gearing is provided through an 11-speed Shimano XT Shadow Plus, whilst KTM maintain the Shimano theme on the brakes with hydraulic discs. Hidden cable routing further add to the delight of the Freeze, and provide a slick operator with stunning good looks
Rarely are electric bikes described as ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) but this term describes best what the Macina Freeze is really capable of. Despite its bulky appearance, the KTM Macina Freeze 261 is very easy to steer, and can (and will!) handle any type of terrain. Enjoy!
