Riese & Müller Charger GT Touring
The Charger GT Touring from Riese & Müller, just like its counterpart the Supercharger signals a new era in ebike technology.
The Touring version of the Charger is one of several in Riese & Müller’s range. Each one features stunning new technology and unique design. The Charger comes as standard with a single 500Wh Bosch PowerTube but has the ability to accommodate an additional 500Wh Bosch PowerPack (rather than an integrated PowerTube) on the downtube. This is the main difference between the Charger and its close relative, the Supercharger.
Dual Battery Technology
Riese & Müller is doubling the range of its electric bikes with dual battery technology by adding a second battery, but that’s not all. Both batteries can be charged at the same time. Both batteries deliver power to the bike at the same time also. Depending on your needs, you can also use just one battery to go on a ride. Its dual battery technology puts Riese & Müller at the top of its class in terms of riding range.
Most striking is its multi-award-winning design, followed by its athletic features. The Charger models are sleek in design, yet powerful in performance. A precisely-conceived geometry guarantee the ultimate in riding comfort. The Bosch Performance CX drive delivers above and beyond with its high torque. Even with a 500Wh battery as standard, the Charger GT Touring simply keeps on going. With an optional upgrade to 1000Wh this ebike means business and has staying power like no other. With its tremendous, high-torque driving force and pedal assistance of up to 300%, the CX motor is capable of conquering any mountain and terrain.
The GT version of the Charger offers a robust 27.5″ wheel based on Alex MD40 and Rodi Tryp35 rims with Schwalbe Super Moto-X 62-584 Reflex Tires for superb grip. A high class Shimano Deore XT 11-speed derailleur provides a wide and useful range to overcome even the most demanding hills. A nice set of hydraulic Shimano Deore XT disc brakes are spot on, and never fail to impress with their braking performance.
The Charger GT Touring also comes with a number of other really useful features and kit. An ABUS Bordo Plus wheel lock mounted behind the seatpost prevents opportunistic theft. Both the ABUS and battery lock share the same key, which means you only need one key to do both jobs.
New Features for 2019
New for 2019 is the option of adding either a Cobi Sport that enables navigation via a smartphone, and other features too. Alternatively, Bosch’s brand new Kiox display is a nice enhancement that’s available also as an option.
Pleasing aesthetics are continue thanks to hidden cable runs under the top tube and through the frame. Furthermore, a Cane Creek Thudbuster ST suspension seatpost ensures ultra rider comfort. Lighting is bright and effective with a Supernova E3 E-Bike lamp on the front and a nice Busch & Müller Toplight Mini LED on the rear.
Available in a selection of three different eye-catching colours, the Charger GT Touring is a real gem.
