Raleigh Captus Electric Bikes

Raleigh Captus electric bikes are based on the very successful Motus which has proved to be hugely popular since its introduction this year. Those very nice people at Raleigh have given us all even more to think about with this new range, as they’re priced very competitively at only £1,750.00, with the Motus at £2,000.00. Both crossbar and step through variants are available, with stock reaching dealers in January 2015.

The first unveiling of the Captus in the UK was at the recent Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham where it gathered great interest.

Who are Raleigh Captus electric bikes designed for?

The Captus is a hybrid style, touring bike. Its suitable for road riding with larger 700c and faster rolling wheels, and is equally at home on cycle paths, bridleways and canal tow-paths. Due to its versatility, this style of bike is popular with both commuters and leisure riders and isn’t restricted just to road use.

Equipment

Raleigh Captus electric bikes come with equipped with mudguards, rear carrier, stand, comfy saddle, and many more essentials. Powered by the very latest Bosch Active line system, the Captus offers the latest technology to maximise range, and provides reliability and usability. You can read more about the Bosch system here.

Gearing is via an Altus 9-speed derailleur gear. It’s lightweight v-brakes on both front and rear provide excellent stopping power, and pinch on double wall rims designed for strength and a corrosion resilience. Hybrid tyres ensure a suitable ride over all terrain and have a puncture resistant lining within them.

Ergonomics are taken care of very nicely on the Captus. The handlebars have a good, natural position whilst the stem is adjustable. The front forks take the pain out of those nasty bumps, and can be locked out if required for a more energy-efficient ride on tarmac surfaces for example.

Conclusion

Raleigh Captus electric bikes will undoubtedly offer a real solution as an entry level bike into the Bosch Active market. With a lovely satin finish, and a spec level and presence that belies its price tag, these bikes are great value!
