Lapierre Overvolt FS 900 Review

The new 2016 Lapierre Overvolt FS 900 once again builds on Lapierre’s wealth of experience in the bike industry to produce a truly versatile and grand performer for the 2016 season.

It’s well known that supreme performer and award-winning Nico Vouilloz has played an instrumental role in the development of the Overvolt range. There’s no doubt that a man with ten mountain bike World Championship titles knows as thing or two about bikes!

The overall geometry and ride-ability of the FS 900 is superb. With an upright and compact approach, a steep seat angle provides a central position to exert a good level of downward force on the pedals. Excelling on downhills, the Lappiere is extremely agile and delivers a smooth ride, thanks largely to its high performance and responsive suspension.

Key Components on the FS 900

The first thing that stands out on the FS 900 is its stunning goods looks. Take a closer look, and you’ll find a bike packed with high level components, well thought out design and performance to match.

Motor

Under the bonnet of the FS 900 is Bosch’s most powerful motor, the Performance CX, delivering 75Nm of torque. The phrase “Powered by Bosch” is clearly visible on the headtube. Neatly housed, the CX fits perfectly within the frame contours.

FS 900 ReviewFront Forks & Rear Shock

The FS 900 utilises RockShox PIKE forks on the front and a RockShox Monarch rear shock. There’s no sign of the front end bottoming-out on jumps. the PIKE’s do a fantastic job and absorb effortlessly the rythms and bumps of the trail. The combination of geometry, suspension and even weight distribution result in a very agile, and precise ride with great handling.

Gearing & Brakes

Fitted with a top notch 11-speed SRAM XX1 rear derailleur, the FS 900 changes gear in an ultra smooth and responsive manner thanks to SRAM GX trigger shifters.
